Ms.Sophie Vilker                     The Violin  Master-Teacher 
Maestro Sophie Vilker  Sophie Vilker graduated from the Gnesin Academy of Music in Moscow.
 Her principal teachers were Yuri Yurovetsky and Gregory Gamburg.
 She served as concertmistress of the Stanislawsky Opera and Ballet Company in Moscow.
 Ms. Vilker has extensive experience working with the best orchestras in Israel and the  USA.  She was a member of Israeli Chamber Orchestra and, upon her immigration to the  United States in 1974, she became a soloist with the Boston Pops. Ms. Vilker was  concertmistress of the Boston Opera Company, the Wellesley Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra in Black and White.
Sophie Vilker has performed in numerous solo and chamber music recitals, and conducted master classes and workshops throughout North and South America, Western and Eastern Europe, Armenia, Japan and China.
Ms. Vilker is the founder and first conductor of the Wheaton College and Longy School of Music Chamber Orchestras, and has served as conductor of the Little Orchestra of Cambridge. She is also the founder and first violinist of the Artemis String Quartet.
For many years she has shared her talent and expertise with gifted youth at Greenwood Music Camp in Cummington, MA, where she worked as violin and chamber music teacher and conductor of the chamber orchestra.
She spent fifteen years as a faculty member of the International Music Camp in Liminka, Finland.
Ms. Vilker served for seven years as the Chamber Music faculty member of Harvard University, and for eight years as String Department Chair of Longy School of Music.
Sophie recently returned from the trip to Russia and Romania, where she conducted a number of Master Classes, gave a solo concert with one of her students and was a member of the Jury for the International Chamber Music Competition in Moscow.
 Sophie Vilker is presently a member of the faculty of Longy School of Music, the Preparatory Division of New England Conservatory of Music and Walnut Hill School for the Arts.
